Hisardut Krav-Maga signifies the purpose of our academy. This art form links together some of the world's most effective martial arts styles ever created. Hisardut Krav-Maga links all five elements of self-defense:
- Striking and clinching
- Take downs
- Grappling technique
- Sparring sessions
Hisardut Krav-Maga also brings together the energy of mind, body, and spirit. Fusing these three elements into one, can bring a sense of enhanced personal development and can lead to one being at peace with themselves.
As any wise architect will tell you, a building is only as good as its foundation. If attention to detail and great effort is given during the design phase, the deeper and more unwavering the foundation will be.
The Moti Horenstein’s Hisardut Krav-Maga teaching method focuses on practical techniques that work in real life. Rather than distract and astound you with an array of spectacular techniques that have little or no practical application, we prefer to concentrate on techniques that will help ensure our student's safety out in the real world. Furthermore, we feel we have a moral and ethical obligation to offer a curriculum that has been rigidly tested, exhaustively researched and proven to be an intelligent and practical method to address the realities of an actual self-defense situation. Our style of self-defense, Krav Maga (Extreme Hisardut) was perfected in Israel and has stood the test of time.
Subsequently, there are many techniques that we chose not to teach here at Moti Horenstein’s Hisardut Krav-Maga. Why?
This is because, there are simple techniques, which are more effective. As we emphasize to our students during their first year of training, we could waste an hour of their precious time by showing them 15 or 20 flashy moves. These 15 to 20 “Hollywood choreographed” martial arts moves would leave you totally amazed. However, they would be baseless and not work in a real self-defense situation.
You would walk away from each class bedazzled, but no more prepared to defend yourself than when you first walked through our doors. Such a teaching approach does more to appease the ego of the instructors than it does to satisfy the concerns of the student we feel. This is not what we are about.
Here at Moti Horenstein’s Hisardut Krav-Maga, we are in the business of addressing our student's needs and concerns. Our staff is not comprised of stereotypical, pushy, used salesmen; they are real (Sensei) teachers.
It is for this very reason we have made a commitment to imparting useful knowledge to all of our students on their first day of instruction. This explains why Moti Horenstein’s Hisardut Krav-Maga has been ranked among the top martial arts academies in the nation by Nicholas Cokinos, President of Educational Funding Company, and why our student competitors are regarded as some of the best full contact fighters in the country and in the world.
